Conference on the Scholarship of Mathematics Education at the Fields Institute | Call for Participants

The Centre for Mathematics Education, at the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences, is pleased to present a 2-day conference “Building Capacity in the Scholarship of Mathematics Education.” This conference will be held on April 25 – 26, 2025, at the Fields Institute, in Toronto, Ontario.
This conference aims to bring together a community of scholars who are interested in research on pedagogical and didactical aspects of teaching and learning mathematics, with a focus on the mathematical education of undergraduate students and future teachers. If you are a graduate student, emerging scholar, mathematics instructor, or education researcher interested in developing new collaborations, advancing new research ideas, or enhancing your knowledge mobilization strategies, then this conference is for you!
Research in mathematics education has a history of collaboration between education researchers and mathematicians, and we aim to continue this tradition through a variety of sessions that will share and advance research in the field. The conference features two panels, a set of lightning talks, working sessions, and academic debates, all of which aim to support emerging research in mathematics education.
This event is made possible by the Fields Institute and the Mitch and Leslie Frazer Faculty of Education at Ontario Tech University. Thanks to their generous support, we are able to offer free registration, as well as a limited number of travel grants for graduate students to help offset their costs.
For more information about our program and to register, please visit our website at: http://www.fields.utoronto.ca/activities/24-25/scholarship-math-ed
To present a lightning talk, or to be considered for a graduate student travel grant, please register by April 6, 2025. Lightning talks can report on preliminary studies, established research, or early-stage research ideas that are still in development.
