Call for Proposals: BIRS-MATRIX Tandem Workshop (November 22-27, 2026)

The Banff International Research Station (BIRS) in Banff, Alberta (Canada) and MATRIX in Creswick (Australia), invite proposals for a tandem-format workshop to be held simultaneously at both sites during the week of November 22-27, 2026.
This joint initiative fosters international collaboration in the mathematical sciences through coordinated hybrid programming. Each location will host approximately 10-21 in-person participants, with activities designed to maximize interaction between the two groups. Joint sessions, including lectures and discussions, will be scheduled to accommodate the time difference (e.g., mornings at MATRIX align with the previous afternoon at BIRS). Additional talks may be recorded and shared asynchronously across both sites.
To be considered eligible, proposals must be submitted separately to both institutions using the following portals:
BIRS Proposal Platform: https://proposals.birs.ca
MATRIX Application Form: https://www.matrix-inst.org.au/call-for-programs/
Submission deadline: September 1, 2025
