The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) is looking for experienced markers for the Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (COMC).

We invite active or retired math professors and mathematicians to lend their expertise and help inspire the next generation of problem solvers in Canada and around the world. Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows are also welcome to join – an honorarium is available for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Please note that all other participants serve on a volunteer basis.

Marking is done remotely on Crowdmark. Volunteers choose their workload and schedule (typically 10-30 hours in total) and receive support from a group coordinator and a detailed marking guide. The marking period runs in November.

The COMC is the CMS’s annual competition for young problem solvers worldwide. It builds mathematical talent, encourages critical thinking, and serves as a pathway to CMS training camps and, for some students, selection to Math Team Canada for international competitions. Accurate, fair marking is central to the COMC’s high standards.

To express interest, please send your CV to Termeh Kousha at tkousha@cms.math.ca.
