The Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) is proud to join the global community in celebrating the International Day of Mathematics (IDM) on March 14. This annual event, led by the International Mathematical Union, is a worldwide invitation to engage students and the public with the beauty and utility of mathematics through schools, libraries, and public spaces.

The theme for 2026, Mathematics and Hope, highlights the vital link between reason and purpose. Mathematics provides the clarity and data-driven cooperation necessary to navigate our world and build a more equitable future.

The CMS encourages its members and the broader Canadian community to get involved. It isn’t too late to plan an activity or join an initiative; visit idm314.org for inspiration and to see how Canada is contributing to this worldwide movement.
